How to slow down a video

  1. Choose or drop your video above.
  2. Tap a speed. 0.75× is subtle, 0.5× is the classic replay speed, 0.25× is dramatic.
  3. For music or dance practice, keep the pitch so notes stay in tune. For a heavy “slowed” effect, choose tape style.
  4. Turn on Blend frames under More options if motion looks steppy, then press Change speed.

Why slowed video can look jerky, and what helps

Slowing down does not create new pictures. At 0.5×, each frame of a 30 fps clip has to be on screen for twice as long. VidSpeed can either show it twice (sharp, but steppy) or blend it with its neighbour (smoother, with slight ghosting on fast motion). Slowing down for learning

Musicians slow down performances to work out fingerings, athletes check their technique and language learners slow down speech. For all of these, keep the pitch: at 0.75× speech is still natural; at 0.5× it stays in tune but gains a faint echo, a normal side effect of time-stretching.

How do I slow down a video online?

Open it in the tool above, choose 0.75×, 0.5× or 0.25× (or anything in between on the slider), press “Change speed” and download the MP4. The file never leaves your device.

Can I slow down a video without changing the pitch?

Yes. “Keep the voice’s pitch” is on by default. Voices get slower but not deeper. At 0.5× and below you may hear a slight echo, which is how time-stretching works with any tool.

Why does my slowed-down video look choppy?

A 30 fps clip at 0.5× only has 15 new pictures per second, so each one is shown twice. Switch on “Blend frames” under More options to smooth it, or record at 60, 120 or 240 fps if you plan to slow it down.

Can I slow down just one part?

Set Start and End under More options to export only that section slowed down, then place it in your edit. The tool changes one continuous section per export.

What is the slowest speed?

0.25×, which makes the clip four times longer. Slower than that, footage from normal cameras turns into a slideshow.
